CHANGE OF SCHEDULE - AGAIN!!

Jun 16 - We had planned to be at TT Verde Valley in Cottonwood, AZ by now!!  However, due to Ken's defibrillator surgery and his Grandson, Russell's graduation, we are still here in Southern California.

Tomorrow , Ken has his last follow up with his Cardiologist after which we will begin our trip to Arizona!!  At last!!  We will stop for a few nights at ROD Colorado River in Ehrenberg, AZ so we can take a day's drive down to Mexico for our dental check-up.

Then we will arrive at ROD Camp Verde on Friday, June 21.  Check out our new schedule!!

FINAL HAPPY HOUR AT THE ELEPHANT BAR!!

Fri Jun 14 - We are thinking this may be our last opportunity to go to the Elephant Bar in Palm Springs.  We called our friends, Pam and Joe who live in LaQuinta, and arranged to meet them at the Bar!!  It was great to see them again and say "Good Bye" to them and the Elephant Bar!!

Faye and Pam!  Glad to be together again!!

Joe and Ken!

Ken ordered his favorite Calamari appetizer!

I ordered my favorite Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer but it turned into a salad.  While the salad was very good, it was not the same!!

A new item on the Happy Hour Menu was Korean Beef Tacos.  Pam and Joe both ordered the Tacos which they said were very good!

A great time was had by all.  So sorry this will be our last time to enjoy The Elephant Bar!!  Maybe when other friends go to the Elephant Bar they will think of us!!

SUPERMAN - MAN OF STEEL

Fri - Jun 14 - This morning we went to Mary Pickford Theater in Palm Springs to see Superman - Man of Steel.  Since we went to the first matinee, they only charged $5.50/pp but no free popcorn any more!!

The "block buster" movie was pretty good, but did not live up to all the hype in our opinion.  Ken said he just didn't like it because too much of the story dealt with "Cal L's" birth in Cripton and his early years on earth.  (Cal L was Clarke Kent's birth name.)

I said it was just too much!!  Too much fighting.  Too much battling.  Too much destruction.  It seemed that one fight scene lasted 20 minutes and I thought it was finally over, only to begin all over again!  Wow!!  Too much!!

Anyway, I'm glad we saw it!!  We had to do it!!!

GRANDSON RUSSELL GRADUATES FROM HILLTOP HS, CHULA VISTA, CA

Jun 07 - We have been staying around Southern California to follow up with Ken's Cardiologist after his defibrillator surgery AND to because we wanted to go to Grandson Russell's high school graduation!!  Today we drove from TT Wilderness Lakes to Chula Vista, CA where Russell's Hilltop High School is located.

First we picked up Ken's son, Richard, and drove to the high school to check out the parking and seating at the football stadium.  We picked up a reserved parking tag so Ken and I would not have to climb the steep hill to the stadium.  We are so glad we did that!!  And, we were glad we were prepared with cushion seats and umbrella for the hot sun.

The Commencement speeches were enjoyable and brief!!  Unfortunately, the presentation of diplomas was so far away we were not able to get a picture of Russell receiving his diploma.  But, after the ceremony, we gathered on the field for family pictures!

Russell with his Mom, Jennifer and Dad, Richard!

Russell with his proud Grandfather and Step-Grandmother!

After the graduation, we took the family to dinner.  Richard suggested Phil's BBQ in San Diego as a good place for casual family gatherings.  He was so right!!

Here we are enjoying fellowship with our family and a great meal!  Richard, Russell, Jacob, Ken and Faye.

As you can see, Phil's does not skimp on the pulled pork BBQ!!  UUMMMMM!!!

Russell was a football hero at Hilltop HS, among the top players, and he was named for honors in the region.  He will be attending New Mexico Western under an athletic scholarship!!  We are soooo proud!!

Young Jacob has made us very proud also.  Jacob "graduated" from elementary to middle school and received the President's Award for Excellence!!!

Way to go boys!!  CONGRATULATIONS!!  Keep up the good work!!
