PICKLEBALL HAPPY HOUR

October 8 – Barb and Mitch and Ken and I decided that with so many Pickleball players at the Campground, it would be fun to have a Happy Hour!! We set up tables in the area between our two motor homes. Everyone came with their favorite appetizer – Twenty-two Pickleball players!! A great time was had by all!!

RECIPES

All of the appertizers were DELICIOUS!! But, unfortunately, I only have a couple of the recipes. I'll share them with you. If you'd like to share your recipes, please send them to me!!

Barb’s Chili Pie

3 cans diced green chilis (2 medium, 1 hot)
10 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3 eggs (beat with 3 tbsp. milk)
Pinch of salt

In a pie pan, layer chilis, then cheese. Pour over with egg mixture.
Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

EATING AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!

We know some of you have commented that it seems that all we do is EAT!!! Can’t imagine where you get that idea!! But, here we go again!! HA HA

SOFT SHELL CRAB SANDWICHES AT THE CULL RING

October 9 - We told the gang about our favorite place to get Soft Shell Crab Sandwiches. On Friday, after Pickleball, we all drove to The Cull Ring in Reedville for lunch. We certainly were not disappointed!!! The sandwiches were WONDERFUL!!

Ken and our friend Dennis. Dennis and Karen have a home off the Great Wicomico River in Reedville. We stopped by there and picked him up to join us for lunch. Later, Dennis took us on a guided tour of historic Reedville.

When we got back home after our trip to Reedville, we decided it was the perfect time for Ice Cream dessert!!

ANNUAL SEAFOOD FESTIVAL AND DRAGON RUN DAYS

October 10 – On Saturday, Chesapeake Bay had their Annual Seafood Festival and Dragon Run Days. As explanation, The Dragon Run is tributary to the Piankatank River. Each year, members of the Dragon Run Preservation Society bring books, exhibits, and activities to the Dragon Run Days in conjunction with the Seafood Festival. There were lots of seafood, music, activities, and crafts for sale. A good time was had by all!!

DIANE'S STEW

For dinner on Saturday night, Diane made a delicious Brunswick Stew that we all enjoyed!! It was just the right thing after the Seafood Festival. Lynda made a wonderful Banana Pudding and I brought a mixed fruit dish. UMMMMM!!

2009 PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT, CHESAPEAKE BAY

What a great Pickleball tournament we had on Sunday, September 6, at TT Chesapeake Bay!! We had 25 participants this year, compared with 14 players in 2008. There were so many players that we, at the request of some of the women, divided the competition into a Women’s Tournament and a Men’s Tournament. I think it was FUN FOR ALL!!! We want to say “Thank You” to all of the participants. “Keep up the good game.”

We had a Pickle Pinning Ceremony during the Tournament for players who had never been pinned.

Faye presented pickle pinns to Jason, Jeff, PAG, Dee and Pam.

Did you know that Veterans are entitled to 15% discount on their cell phone bills!!! And, 25% discount on cell phone accessories!!! Stan and Sally alerted us to this discount a couple of months ago. We know it’s true for Verizon customers and I believe it’s true for other carriers as well. Anyway, we think it’s worth looking into. Simply take your discharge papers and ID to a full service store for your carrier. Ask them about the Veteran’s discount. Tell them Verizon does it!!

To take advantage of the discount, the phone must be in the Veteran’s name. If it is not, the account can be changed over to the Veteran’s name. Be alert if you do have to change. The current account will be closed and you will have a new account number. The beginning and ending dates for minutes used may change. Your billing closing date may change. If you have automatic debit payment, that will have to be set up for the new account.
